Can I run LTX Desktop offline?
Yes — on supported Windows/Linux hardware, local generation works without an internet connection after the initial setup. Note that on macOS and unsupported hardware, generation runs through the LTX API and always requires a connection.
What works offline
- Video generation in local mode (Windows/Linux with a supported NVIDIA GPU)
- Video editing in the timeline
Once the model weights are downloaded during first launch, local generation doesn't need a connection.
What requires internet
- API mode — generation on macOS and unsupported hardware always requires a connection
- Prompt processing via the LTX API — if you're using an API key for this (recommended), it requires internet. Without it, you'll need the Local Text Encoder downloaded instead
- First launch — model weights and app components are downloaded on first run
- App updates — LTX Desktop checks for updates automatically when online
Setting up for offline use
For fully offline use, you need local generation on supported hardware and the Local Text Encoder downloaded — go to Settings > General and click Download Text Encoder. Without the Local Text Encoder, prompt processing may require an internet connection because text encoding is handled through the LTX API.
