Is LTX Desktop free?

LTX Desktop is free to download and open source. You can use it entirely for free on supported Windows and Linux hardware — no subscription, no per-generation cost. On some setups, video generation uses the LTX API and may consume credits.

How to use LTX Desktop for free

On a Windows or Linux machine with a supported NVIDIA GPU (32GB+ VRAM recommended), everything is free:

  • Downloading and installing the app
  • Local video generation — runs on your GPU, no per-generation cost
  • Using the video editor
  • Text encoding via the LTX API — free even in local mode

You don't need an LTX API key or an account to generate video locally.

When generation isn't free

On some hardware, LTX Desktop falls back to API mode for video generation. API mode consumes LTX API credits, which are pay-per-use.

Setup Video generation cost Why
Windows or Linux with supported NVIDIA GPU Free Runs locally on your GPU
macOS (any Apple Silicon) Uses API credits Local GPU inference not supported on Mac — generation runs via LTX API
Windows or Linux without a qualifying NVIDIA GPU Uses API credits No compatible GPU for local inference — generation runs via LTX API

To see which modes your machine supports and how to switch between them, see Local mode and API mode in LTX Desktop.
