LTX Desktop generation starts but no output appears
If a generation completes but no video appears in your asset bin or timeline, work through the steps below to identify the cause.
Troubleshooting steps
Check your asset bin
Generated clips are added to the asset bin in the bottom panel, not directly to the timeline. If you were expecting a clip in the timeline, check the asset bin first.
Update LTX Desktop
Several output-persistence issues were fixed in v1.0.5. If you're on an older version, update from the releases page and retry.
Check for a missing ffmpeg dependency
LTX Desktop uses ffmpeg to process and save generated video. If it's missing or inaccessible, generation can appear to complete successfully but the output file won't be saved.
Check your logs for any mention of ffmpeg not found or file persistence errors.
If ffmpeg is missing:
- Install
ffmpegfrom ffmpeg.org. - Make sure it's accessible on your system PATH.
- Restart LTX Desktop and try generating again.
If the issue isn't resolved
Before taking any further action, check whether API credits were deducted. Go to the LTX Console and check your credit balance. Don't retry the generation until you've checked — this could result in being charged twice.
Generation failed, no credits deducted
Report the issue on the GitHub issues page with your logs, app version, OS, and a description of what happened. Attaching your logs is essential for the team to diagnose the failure.
Generation failed and credits were deducted
- Report the bug on GitHub — open an issue on the GitHub issues page with your logs, app version, OS, and a description of what happened.
- Contact support for a reimbursement — contact support with your logs, app version, and the approximate time of the generation. The support team can confirm the deduction and arrange a refund.
