Using the video editor in LTX Desktop
LTX Desktop includes a full non-linear video editor. You can arrange clips, switch between takes, retake sections in the timeline, and import timelines from DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, and Final Cut Pro.
The timeline
The timeline is the main editing workspace. Generated clips appear in your asset bin and can be dragged into the timeline to arrange your sequence.
Key controls:
- Drag to reorder clips along the timeline
- Trim clip edges to adjust in and out points
- Lasso select multiple clips
- Add audio tracks by dragging audio files into the timeline
Switching between takes
Each clip can have multiple takes from different generation runs. To switch:
- Select a clip in the timeline.
- Open the takes panel for that clip.
- Click any take to preview it, then confirm to use it.
Switching takes is non-destructive — all previous takes remain available unless you delete them manually.
Retake inside the editor
You can trigger a Retake directly from the timeline without going back to Gen Space:
- Select a clip in the timeline.
- Mark the section you want to redo using the retake handles.
- Adjust your prompt in the clip properties panel.
- Click Retake.
Gap fill in the timeline
To generate a clip that bridges two clips in your sequence:
- Leave a gap between two clips in the timeline.
- Select the gap.
- Click Gap fill.
Import timelines from other tools
LTX Desktop supports XML timeline import from DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Final Cut Pro.
To import: go to File > Import Timeline and select your exported XML file. Clips and cut points are brought in as a starting point for generation and editing.
How to export
To export your final video, go to File > Export and choose your output format and resolution.
