Do I need to pay separately for API access if I have a Studio plan?
Yes, the LTX API is billed separately from LTX Studio. Studio runs on a monthly subscription while the API uses a pay-as-you-go credit system. You'll need a separate Developer Console account and API credits to get started.
The difference between LTX Studio and the API
LTX Studio is a monthly subscription with a visual interface for creating and editing video. The LTX API gives developers programmatic access to the same generation models, but it works differently: there's no monthly fee. Instead, you top up credits and pay only for what you generate. The two have separate accounts and separate billing.
What you need to use the API
- A Developer Console account at console.ltx.video — separate from your LTX Studio account
- API credits — purchased in the Developer Console billing section
- An API key — created in the Developer Console once you have credits
If you already have an LTX Studio account, you'll need to register separately for the Developer Console. The two accounts are not linked.
Will my Studio credits work in the API?
No — Studio credits and API credits are separate balances and don't transfer between the two. Credits purchased in LTX Studio are for Studio use only. To use the API, you'll need to purchase API credits in the Developer Console.
Why am I getting an insufficient funds error?
If your API requests are returning insufficient_funds_error, it means the API account linked to your key has run out of credits. LTX Studio credits and API credits are separate balances and do not affect each other.
To fix it, add credits in the Developer Console at console.ltx.video/billings. See How to buy API credits for step-by-step instructions, or How does API billing work? for more on the credit system.
