Use HEX codes for exact color matching

Type # followed by a 6-digit HEX code in to any image prompt to specify an exact color match. Use HEX codes to guarantee color accuracy across your image generations — useful for locking in brand colors, creating product variations, consistent color grading and more.

Plan Availability

HEX Codes: All users can access the color picker tool and use HEX codes within image prompts.

Color Elements: Standard, Pro and Enterprise users can also save and reuse colors with Color Elements.

How to use HEX codes and the color picker

  1. In the prompt bar, type # to open the color picker
  2. From here you can:
  • Type your 6-digit HEX code directly
  • Use the eyedropper to pick any color visible on the page
  • or choose a color from the gradient panel
  1. Click Add to confirm the color
  2. In your prompt, describe what you want the color applied to
  3. Click Generate

You can include multiple HEX codes in a single prompt to reference more than one color at a time.

What is a HEX code?

A HEX code is a 6-character code that represents an exact color (e.g. #FF5733). If your color is in another format, such as RGB or CMYK, convert it to HEX first.

Examples of using HEX codes

HEX codes give you precise color control in any image generation. A few ways to use them:

  • Apply brand colors: Use your exact brand palette for things like products, scene items or text
  • Generate product variations: Get the same product in multiple colorways
  • Color grading: Set the tonal mood of a scene (try modifiers like "a hint of", "soft wash", or "drenched in" to control intensity)
  • Object and prop consistency: Keep a specific element the same color across multiple generations
HEX codes are compatible with image prompts only, at this time

HEX codes can't yet be used directly in video generation prompts. To apply a specific color to a video generation, use your HEX in the image generation first, then use that image as a reference or start/end frame for your video generation.

Example: Generate product color variations

  1. [Optional] In the prompt bar, add or upload any references, if you have them
  2. Write your prompt, including:
  • describing the image you want to generate (or the change you want to make to your reference image)
  • the HEX code(s)
  • and what component the color should apply to
  1. Click Generate
  2. Swap the color in your prompt to make more color variations

Tip: For more targeted control, use the Brush editing tool to paint over the specific area you want to recolor before generating.

Example: Color grade an image

Use a Color Element alongside a reference image to apply a specific tonal grade across an entire generation — useful for establishing a cinematic mood or matching a defined visual style.

  1. Drag or upload an image reference to the prompt bar
  2. Tag a Color Element and describe the color change

Example prompt: Apply a hint of @MoodyTeal across the entire scene.

  3. Click Generate

Tip: Try modifiers to adjust the level higher or lower, like "a hint of", "soft wash", "heavy color grade" or "drenched in".

Tips for achieving consistency with HEX codes

  • Be specific in your prompt. Describe exactly what you want the color applied to — for example: "The man wears a ski jacket in the color #4629FA."
  • Use intensity modifiers for color grading. Phrases like "a hint of", "soft wash", or "drenched in" give you more control over how strongly a color is applied across a scene.
  • Copy-paste for accuracy. Typing a HEX code from memory risks errors — paste it in to make sure it's right.
  • Results can vary by model. If the color isn't landing quite right, try regenerating or switching models. Nano Banana and GPT Image models tend to give the best color accuracy.
  • Save colors for reuse with Elements. On Standard, Pro, or Enterprise plans, save any HEX code as a Color Element so you can tag it with @ instead of typing it each time.

Save and reuse HEX codes with Color Elements

Color Elements let you save a HEX code once and tag it into any prompt with @ — no copy-pasting required. Enterprise users can go further with Brand Kit, saving color palettes at the organization level so they're available to the whole team across any project.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use multiple HEX codes in one prompt?

Yes — include as many as you need. Describe what you want each color applied to for the most accurate result.

Where do HEX codes work?

HEX codes can be used in the prompt bar across LTX Studio's image generation surfaces: Gen Space, Canvas, Storyboard, and Flows. If the color panel isn't appearing when you type #, make sure your generation mode is set to image.

Can I save a HEX code to reuse it?

Yes. On Standard, Pro, and Enterprise plans, save any HEX code as a Color Element and tag it into prompts with @. Enterprise users can also add colors to a Brand Kit for team-wide access. Learn more about Color Elements.

Will this work in video generation?

HEX codes apply to image generation only. To use a specific color in a video, generate your image first with the HEX code applied, then use that image as a reference or start/end frame for your video generation.

Can I apply a color to multiple images at once?

Yes. Use Flows to run a prompt across multiple generations in bulk.

What if my color is in RGB, CMYK, or another format?

Convert it to HEX first using the Google color picker, then paste the code into your prompt.
