Understanding the difference between LTX Platform, the LTX-2 API, and self-hosting the open source model

LTX offers three ways to access AI video generation: the LTX Platform (a complete creative suite), the LTX-2 API (developer integration), and the open source LTX-2 model (self-hosted). The right choice depends on your technical skills and what you're trying to build.

LTX Platform: Complete creative suite

The LTX Platform is a browser-based AI video production app with built-in workspaces like Gen Space, Storyboards, and the Video Editor. Log in at app.ltx.studio and start creating. No coding required.

Best for: Creative professionals, agencies, and studios who want to generate videos through a visual interface without technical setup. Create consistent characters, props, and branding elements like fonts and logos across projects, then arrange and edit everything in one workspace.

API Playground

The API Playground is a sandbox environment within the LTX Platform for testing LTX-2 API capabilities before committing to full integration. When you use the API Playground, you're using your LTX Platform plan's monthly credit allowance, not API credits purchased through the developer console. The Playground is designed for short-term testing only. To integrate the API into your own tools or workflows, you'll need to purchase API access separately.

LTX-2 API: Developer integration

The API provides programmatic access to LTX-2's video generation. Make API calls from your own applications while we handle hosting, infrastructure, and model updates.

Best for: Developers building custom integrations into existing tools and products, or automating video generation workflows. Perfect for adding AI video capabilities directly into your own user interface while LTX-2 handles generation behind the scenes. Requires coding knowledge.

Self-hosting the open source model: Complete control

Install and run LTX-2 on your own infrastructure. You handle hardware, deployment, scaling, and maintenance. Requires machine learning operations expertise.

Best for: Technical teams with ML infrastructure who need complete control over video generation, want to customize the model itself, or have strict data privacy and governance requirements that mandate keeping all generation in-house.
